From concept sketch to a fully functional motorcycle
The Kawasaki ZRX1200R Concept is a complete redesign of the iconic Kawasaki ZRX1200R, developed from the initial concept sketch to a fully functional motorcycle. Conceived as a self-initiated project, it reinterprets the character of a modern classic through a contemporary industrial design approach, combining timeless aesthetics, engineering precision and an engaging riding experience.
The project involved a comprehensive redesign, with virtually every visible component reimagined to create a coherent and purposeful whole. From bodywork and lighting to ergonomics and detailing, each element was developed to achieve a balance between visual purity, functionality and manufacturability while preserving
the unmistakable identity of the original motorcycle.
The development followed a complete industrial design process, beginning with hand sketches and a full-scale clay model. After 3D scanning, the surfaces were reconstructed in CAD, refined through digital modelling and verified with functional prototypes before the final components were manufactured using CNC machining, composite technologies and bespoke fabrication.
More than a custom motorcycle, the Kawasaki ZRX1200R Concept demonstrates a product development approach where design, engineering and craftsmanship come together to transform an idea into a fully realised machine.
